About this course
The other extra-low-voltage systems that make a building secure, connected, and safe: access control, intruder and perimeter alarms, intercom and door entry, public address and voice alarm, MATV/IPTV distribution, and integrating them all through a building management platform.
What you will be able to do
- Design an access-controlled door, choosing credentials, readers, locks, and fail-safe behaviour
- Lay out an intruder alarm with appropriate detectors, zones, and grading
- Install IP and 2-wire intercom and door entry systems
- Design a 100 V line PA system and understand voice alarm requirements
- Distribute TV and IPTV services across a building
- Integrate ELV systems with each other and with a BMS safely

Practical sign-off
Hands-on tasks a supervisor must watch you complete and sign off before your certificate is issued.
-
1
Install and commission an access-controlled escape door
Reader, fail-safe lock with diode, REX, contact, break-glass, and fire alarm release.
-
2
Walk-test an intruder alarm and its signalling paths
Every detector, tamper, and both signalling paths confirmed with the ARC.
-
3
Set up a 100 V line PA zone
Set speaker taps, measure line impedance, and set amplifier levels.
